The centralized application period for each fall admission begins July 1 through January 15. the application can be found at www.optomcas.org.
To meet our course prerequisites for the Indiana University School of Optometry you must earn a grade of C or higher in each prerequisite course. These must ALL be successfully completed PRIOR to beginning our program. No credit is given for work experience.
We also require the Optometry Admissions Test (OAT). Please refer to their website for additional information at www.opted.org.
For international students whose native language is not English, we also require the TOEFL. You must also apply to Indiana University. Application information can be found on the International Admissions website at http://admit.indiana.edu/graduate/index.shtml. The International Admissions website will give you the current cost of study for Optometry. This is the amount that you must provide proof of funding for when you apply to Indiana University.
If you are eligible for admission an ‘Admission Day’ event invitation will be given and your attendance in Bloomington is required. To be considered, we require a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and a median score of 300 in each of the six categories of the OAT. This does not guarantee an ‘Admission Day’ invitation, but are minimums for consideration. Admission is competitive and depends each year on the applicant pool.
