The School of Optometry is a member of the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO) and is accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (Accreditation Council on Optometric Education, American Optometric Association, 243 North Lindbergh Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63141; telephone 314-991-4100) of the American Optometric Association, the official optometric agency recognized by the National Commission on Accrediting and by the Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry. Optometry students and graduates are eligible to take the annual examinations of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. The Optician/Technician Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education and also by the Commission on Opticianry Accreditation. Graduates are eligible to take a certification examination through the American Optometric Association Commission on Paraoptometric Certification. They may also may become certified by the American Board of Opticianry.
