Daniel Gerstman, OD, MS, has served the IU School of Optometry for over 36 years as a faculty member and Executive Associate Dean. His philanthropic leadership has been exemplary in both his personal volunteer service and financial support to the school. Dr. Gerstman has worked tirelessly to procure countless gifts of cash, gifts-in-kind, and discounted equipment to furnish the school with the latest state-of-the-art equipment available for teaching the students and providing topnotch care to patients.

The Vision Care InstituteTM, LLC is an innovative professional resource for optometry students and residents. The institute gives participants the rare opportunity to experience the latest in vision diagnostic and treatment technologies through hands-on instruction of contact lens fitting and patient communication. Working in tandem with leading optometry schools, the institute has hosted more than 3000 students throughout North America and has sister facilities in Asia and Europe.
The Vision Care Institute has generously provided support for an IU Optometry conference center featuring state-of-the-art teleconferencing technology that will provide opportunities for students to participate in coursework and lectures from all over the nation.
The IU School of Optometry is proud to honor the institute for its commitment to excellence in education. Accepting the award was the director of the institute, Dr. Richard Clompus, who was integral in the creation of The Vision Care Institute as a new Johnson & Johnson company.
