Program

2nd World Congress on Contact Lens Education to be Held in San Juan, Puerto Rico

Plans for the 2001 annual AOCLE workshop are underway! Our host will be the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry. The workshop is planned for May 31 to June 3, 2001, and the program chairs are Drs. Iris Cabello and Manual Conde. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit the school and the nearby sites in the city of San Juan. Due to space limitations at the school, some of the events will take place at the hotel. So until then, start working on your Spanish and Ricky Martin trivia! Below is a tentative agenda as well as some helpful phrases in Spanish to get you started.

Useful Spanish Phrases
Key words in "Español": Meaning (translation) in "English":
  • Hola! (ola) . . . Hi! (unless you hear somebody screaming "hola" and you are in the water on the beach in which case you should protect yourself because it means tide!)
  • Adios (a-dee-os) . . . Good bye
  • Donde está el baño? . . . Where is the bathroom?
  • Qué es eso? . . . What is that?
  • Oritá (o-ree-ta) . . . Later--in most cases, but if you are on a Mexican restaurant it means now, if you are asking how long will it take and is preceded by the word una (one) it means one hour.
