Seminars & Workshops

      The continuing education courses presented by the IU School of Optometry offer a wide range of educational opportunities for optometrists. These courses are designed to help practitioners fulfill their educational requirements for license renewal.
      Course credit hours are listed for each individual day. Courses are to be taken on a full-day basis; no adjustments will be made for partial days. Unless otherwise noted, the courses will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with an hour for lunch.
      Continuing Education with Examination (formerly TQ) Credit will be available on selected courses only. CEE courses are marked in the brochure and/or on our website. If you want CEE credit, please make this known when registering. CEE exams will be mailed to the practitioners requesting them and are to be mailed back to the School for grading. The cost is $25 for each 2 credit hour test.
      All courses are submitted for COPE approval.
      Attention Indiana-licensed optometrists:

Twenty (20) hours of continuing education is still required for renewal of an optometry license. However, effective for the license period ending April 1, 2014, and every license period thereafter, optometrists are required, as part of the twenty (20) hour requirement to complete two (2) hours of continuing education in any of the following areas:

(1) Medical charting.

(2) Billing and coding.

(3) Health care compliance.

(4) Compliance with federal or Indiana state laws or regulations.

 Courses that are approved by the Indiana Optometry Board or COPE in the area of jurisprudence and medical record keeping will be accepted under this section. Practice management courses are not eligible for continuing education credit.

     August 10-12, 2013 - Pediatrics/Glaucoma (Day 1), Grand Rounds Day (Day 2), Contact Lens Day (Day 3) - 18 cr. hrs (6 assorted, 6 peds, 6 cornea/CL) - $540.00
     September 6-7, 2013 - Cream and Crimson CE Seminar - 6 cr. hrs - $180.00
     November 10, 2013 - Louisville Seminar - 6 cr. hrs - $180.00
     December 8, 2013 - CE SEMINAR Celebrating the Career of Dr. Vic Malinovsky - 6-8 cr. hrs - $30.00/ Credit Hour

Fees & Registration

     The daily fee for 6 hours of continuing education is $180. Fees will be accepted for a full day only. No partial course registrations will be accepted and no partial refunds or carryover of fees to another day will be given.

Location

     All courses (unless otherwise noted) will be held at the Indiana University School of Optometry. Parking is available in the Atwater garage (located at the northeast corner across the street from the IU School of Optometry) or in the parking lot directly across Atwater Avenue from the school. Parking is free in the garage on weekends. Parking stickers will be available at registration for courses held on weekdays. You must pick up a parking sticker (available at registration) for weekday parking before entering the garage.
