Indiana University
School of Optometry

The continuing education courses presented by the IU School of Optometry offer a wide range of educational opportunities for optometrists and are designed to help practitioners fulfill their requirements for license renewal. Optometrists seeking credits for licensure should check with their state boards for number of online CE credits allowed. The Council on Optometric Practitioner Education (COPE) Website houses a collection of CE requirements for all state regulatory boards in the US.

Feel free to browse the contents of the courses with no obligation. In order to receive CE credit for an online course, please complete the registration information and the certification examination. Upon receipt of your registration, payment, and exam responses (online or written), we will mail to you a certificate with the number of CE credit hours received. Instructions regarding registration, fee, and examination submission can be found on the certification section of each course. We normally mail certificates within a day of receiving registration and payment. No refunds will be made for online courses once the certificates have been mailed.

We hope you find these courses informative, useful, and convenient. We appreciate any feedback you may have about the online courses.

Attention Indiana-licensed optometrists: The number of IOB continuing education hours required per licensure period is 20. Optometrists maintaining a legend drug certificate must obtain 20 IOB hours and an additional 20 therapeutics/pharmacology (formerly OLDPAC) hours for a total of 40 hours every 2 years. Therapeutics COPE categories are AS, GL, NO, PD, PH, PO, PS, RS, and SD. All categories (including the therapeutics categories) EXCEPT the practice maintenance type courses PM and EJ are acceptable toward IOB credits.

The Indiana Optometry Board accepts 3 credit hours biennially of "self-study continuing education" (which includes online CE). At this time, there is no limit to the number of therapeutics credit hours obtained from online courses. (In other states, please check with your state board for specific requirements.)
