Guanajuato is the name of both the city and the state. The state has a population of over 2.5 million. The city is approximately 150 miles northwest of Mexico City (see map).
Initially, the IU School of Optometry eye care center was located in Guanajuato city. The current center is just outside of Guanajuato city near Silao--still within Guanajuato state.
