Juvenile Glaucoma

Juvenile glaucoma has been classified as a primary open angle glaucoma. It presents with optic nerve cupping, defects of the nerve fiber layer, and a visual field loss. This disease is believed to be inherited and appears when the patient is between 10 to 35 years old. This type of glaucoma primarily affects myopes (people who are nearsighted). Treatment for juvenile glaucoma follows the standard medical protocol of primary open angle glaucoma.
