IU School of Optometry OD students are invited to join the newest chapter of Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society, or Gold Key for short. Gold Key is an organization created to recognize leadership in optometry schools and has been recognized by the AOSA as the highest honor for leadership a student of optometry can achieve. "There are currently many active Gold Key chapters throughout the country, and we are excited to start one here at Indiana," said Jenny Nance, OD Class of 2009. IU Optometry faculty members Dr. Neil Pence and Dr. Tiffenie Harris have generously volunteered their time as faculty advisors for this new organization.
To be considered for membership in the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society, students should download and fill out the Gold Key application. Return completed applications to Kim Covington's mailbox no later than MONDAY, JANUARY 14, 2008. Fourth-year students away on rotations should mail their applications to the school to Kim's attention.
As a member of Gold Key, students receive a Certificate of Membership and a metal Gold Key lapel pin. Each member wears to graduation a gold stole embroidered with a black key to denote the special honor.
Gold Key recognizes leadership in the class, the school, and the optometric profession.
