Indiana University School of Optometry was the recipient of the Winter/Spring 2008 Parks Partner Award. The award honors businesses for their outstanding support and sponsorship of the city of Bloomington's programs and events.

The Optometry school has played a key role in the Children's Expo and the Senior Expo, providing free vision screenings to Expo participants. The school also has partnerships with Monroe County Head Start performing vision screenings and providing education to the teachers and parents. They serve as the primary optometric referral for Volunteers in Medicine.
