Susan Kovacich, OD

Susan Kovacich received both her undergraduate and O.D. degrees from Indiana University. She then completed a hospital-based optometric residency at the St. Louis Veterans Administration Medical Center. The 1-year residency concentrated on the treatment and management of ocular disease.

Following her residency, she practiced in St. Louis at a multidisciplinary clinic for 5 years, then with a corneal specialist for 4 years. For 2 years during this time, Dr. Kovacich was also a part-time clinical faculty member at the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Optometry. In l998 Dr. Kovacich joined the IU School of Optometry as an Assistant Clinical Professor, and after working in Primary Care for 6 years, she is now assigned to the Contact Lens Clinic. Dr Kovacich has been active nationally with the AOA, AAO, NBEO, and AOCLE.

At the School of Optometry, Dr Kovacich is currently the Chair of the Awards and Honors Committee and has served on the Admissions and Continuing Education Committees, in addition to several others. She contributes regularly to summer IU School of Optometry CE courses. Classroom work includes teaching the ophthalmic technician students Ophthalmic Procedures I.
