Dr. Neil A. Pence has been a member of the faculty of Indiana University School of Optometry since 1979. During that tenure he has taught courses dealing with the areas of contact lenses, ocular disease, and clinical assessment or analysis and decision making. His current teaching duties include the Clinical Assessment I & II courses, supervising a weekly morning seminar for fourth year interns during their Bloomington rotation, and clinical teaching in the Contact Lens Clinic. Dr. Pence serves as Director of Continuing Education for the optometry school, as well as Director of the Contact Lens Clinic. He has authored numerous publications, and lectured at the local, state, national and international levels in continuing education courses and eyecare symposiums. Dr. Pence has served as a referee for several ophthalmic journals, and has served on the advisory panel for the Rigid Gas Permeable Institute as well as several contact lens companies. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, the American Optometric Association and its Indiana state affiliate, the Association of Optometric Contact Lens Educators, and the Continuing Education Directors SIG of ASCO.
