Dr. Melanie Pickett is a 2000 graduate from the Indiana University School of Optometry. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from DePauw University in 1995. Dr. Pickett began her private practice at Midwest Eye Consultants, P.C., a large medical surgical practice. During this time, Dr. Pickett specialized in the treatment of glaucoma, medical management of eye disease, and contact lens fitting. In January of 2004, she returned to IU to become the Clinic Director of the new IU Eye at Carmel clinic.
Dr. Pickett is involved in patient care, clinical teaching, and administration. Being located in a clinic shared by IU School of Medicine's Department of Ophthalmology, she continues to focus on medical management of ocular disease and consulting for contact lens fitting. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Pickett lectures in the ocular disease courses--as well as continuing education courses at the local, state, and national level. Dr. Pickett has made several mission trips to Mexico and Haiti, providing eye care to those in need. Dr. Pickett is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Indiana Optometric Association.
