Although these sources of support have been invaluable over the years, an even greater contribution has been made by the many graduate students, optometry students, and post-doctoral fellows that have been the engine that made progress happen. Most of these students have never met each other, and yet they are all linked together by the work that they have done. Each one advanced the field an incremental step, making it possible for those who followed to go a step further.
