Notes:
In summary, we anticipate that correcting the eye's aberrations will have broad impact in the future of visual optics research and applicatons. Improved clinical instrumentation and visually-coupled displays are obvious candidates for new technologies for perfecting the eye's optical system. We also forsee a large number of clincial applications in ophthalmology and optometry which will be natural benefactors of technologies to correct the eye's higher-order aberrations.
Basic scientific research will also benefit from improved optics of the eye, which will make possible new advances in the study of ocular physiology, functional neuroanatomy, and visual perception.
These are exciting times in visual optics research, and the best is yet to come!
