• The goal of the Handbook of Visual Optics is to articulate our understanding of the eye's optical system as known at the opening of the third millennium.

  Clearly a chapter which specifies accepted standards and methods for computing, transforming, and reporting of optical aberrations of the eye will be a valuable addition to the handbook which the taskforce can contribute.

  Furthermore, if OSA will again agree to publish the proceedings of VSIA on CD-ROM in 2000, then we have a wonderful opportunity to publish in electronic form not ony the report of the taskforce, but also shared computational tools donated by researchers in our community for the common good.
