In 1990 he received the Max Schapero Memorial Award of the Section on Cornea and Contact Lenses of the American Academy of Optometry. He was the first optometrist to serve on the Program Planning Committee of the Cornea section of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). He is currently a Vice President of the International Society for Contact Lens Research.
