Tianjin Medical University has one of the most outstanding eye centers in China for the training of ophthalmologists and optometrists and for providing eye care. It is located in the beautiful city of Tianjin which is east of Beijing in PR China.

Dean Gerald Lowther and Assistant Professor Don Miller visited Tianjin Medical University in May 2002 to discuss possible cooperation between schools; to meet with administrators and faculty; and to tour the educational facilities, outpatient clinic, hospital, and institute.

On behalf of the IU School of Optometry, Dean Lowther signed an agreement of friendship and cooperation with the Tianjin Medical University on May 26, 2002, to work towards collaborative activities--including exchange of faculty, cooperative research projects, and exchange of students for training and research.
