Both domestic and international students can work in the School of Optometry as hourly employees in the library and in the computer classroom. Students can also be graduate assistants and help to teach laboratories to incoming students. This not only provides income, but is an excellent way to gain teaching and leadership experience.

Salary Expectations
Your investment will pay off not only in greater knowledge and credentials, but also in an excellent salary. Income often starts at around $65,000 including benefits for an optometrist employed by others, with an increase of at least 5% expected each year. In 5 years you can expect to be making between $85,000 and $129,200, depending on mode of practice. As a result, most students can pay back their student loans within 10 years. For additional profession information, search online at www.opted.org.
