The IU School of Optometry Running Club welcomes runners and walkers of any caliber to join us. Faculty, staff, students, and anyone with an enthusiasm for running can join in on the fun! We typically meet to run on the weekends and have scheduled races in the Fall and Spring that will work towards a goal specific to you as a runner or walker.
Annually, we run in the Jill Behrman 5K and the Hoosiers Outrun Cancer 5K. Both are charity runs with proceeds going to great causes. We also schedule longer runs. Over 20 of us participated in Lousiville’s Kentucky Derby Festival Half Marathon last Spring.
Whatever your pace or skill level, our running club provides great support and motivation for any mileage. The diversity of our group allows for guidance on how to approach any race from 5K’s to marathons. So whether your goal is to lose weight, get into shape, or shave time of your races, come out and join us!
If you’d like to join us for a run, or just want further information, please contact Dr. Todd Peabody at tpeabody@indiana.edu or Philip Shaffer (class of 2012) at phishaff@indiana.edu.
